Kanyakumari station in TN gets world class upgrades

The redevelopment work of Kanyakumari Railway Station in Tamil Nadu, which falls under the jurisdiction of Southern Railway's Thiruvananthapuram division, has been fast-tracked. The renovation initiative aims to provide passengers with a world-class ambiance, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and airport-like facilities. Upon completion of the ongoing work, the station will enhance passenger experience and streamline railway operations with improved infrastructure and modern amenities, as stated by the zonal railway.

The tender for the modernization of Kanyakumari Railway Station was awarded to Chennai-based Engineering Projects (India) on an EPC model in November 2022. Mumbai-based M/s TUV India has been tasked with project management services (PMS). The ongoing work includes GRIHA Registration, QC laboratory work, and the setup of a batching plant, which is currently in progress. The shifting of temporary sanitary facilities and the approach road is also in progress. Architectural and structural design of the station buildings, ancillary buildings, FOB, and concourse is in progress. Master Plan Revalidation and Utility Tracer in the station premises are also being fast-tracked.
