DMRC speeds up work on two corridors under Phase-IV
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has fast-tracked the construction work on the two lines of the three remaining corridors to be built as part of Phase-IV of the metro rail expansion network. Upon completion, DMRC's new routes will enhance connectivity in the national capital. Out of the six DMRC corridors proposed for the Phase-IV project, three have received approval from the Union Cabinet. These approved corridors are Tughlaqabad-Aerocity, Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg, and Majlis Park-Maujpur. The construction work on the Tughlaqabad-Aerocity Metro corridor is already in progress, and officials are currently working on extending it to Delhi Airport Terminal 1D on the Magenta Line. This 23.62-km-long project is expected to be completed by March 2026. Meanwhile, DMRC is making concerted efforts to finalize the construction of the 28.92-km-long Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor, which serves as an extension of the existing Magenta Line. Additionally, the 12.55-km-long Majlis Park-Maujpur Metro corridor is an extension of the existing Pink Line. DMRC is planning to extend the Rithala-Bawana-Narela Metro corridor into Haryana's Kundli. This marks the fourth expansion of DMRC into a neighboring state, following the Yellow Line (Gurugram), Violet Line (Faridabad), and Green Line (Bahadurgarh). This corridor is being designed as an extension of the existing Shaheed Sthal-Rithala corridor of the Red Line and will span 27.319 km with 22 stations. Of these stations, 21 will be elevated, covering approximately 26.339 km, and one station will be at grade level.
