Meghalaya targets 1,800-km road network this fiscal
Meghalaya Government has targeted to complete about 1,800 km of roads length under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) during the current financial year. State CM Conrad Sangma informed that the performance was good last year as the state government had targeted to build 800 km of roads out of which over 750km was completed. The target has doubled this time around and the state is fully equipped to match the targets as sanctions have also come from the Centre. The details, including the various aspects and issues of the project, were discussed with the engineers and deputy commissioners during the recent meeting. Earlier, during the Budget session, the chief minister had informed that Meghalaya has reached spending of over ₹600 crore in terms of the funds of the PMGSY, another tranche of funds has also been released by the Centre. The state is also expecting to get another ₹200 crore within this fiscal year under the PMGSY.
