Manipur infra gets Rs.150-cr infra infusion

The Central government has recently cleared Rs.150 crore for the construction of various infra and allied projects in Manipur in the current financial year, said official sources claiming that the approval was effected shortly after the state Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren Singh met Prime Minister in New Delhi. In the current year, an additional amount of Rs.82 crore has also been given to Manipur. The Centre also agreed to continue the sharing pattern of 90:10 for Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Manipur and construction works for making National Highways into four lanes will be taken up shortly. Construction work on the NH-37 has already been started and in remaining places, it will be taken up on fast-tracked basis. Further, the statement pointed out that construction of women‘s market across districts will be considered for NLCPR funding from Ministry of DoNER and construction of 60 bedded mental hospital will be approved by the Ministry of Health after appropriate proposal received from the state government.
