Maharashtra approves ₹15,000-cr ring road project in Pune

The Maharashtra government has given in-principle clearance to the proposed outer ring road project to be executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) at an investment of ₹15,000 crore. Deputy CM & Finance Minister Ajit Pawar said that the 170-km ring road was proposed to divert vehicles coming to Pune from Nashik, Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai. MSRDC would start work shortly on a fast track basis. The ring road will pass through 66 villages and Bhor, Haveli, Mulshi, Maval, Purandar and Khed talukas. MSRDC superintending engineer Abasaheb Nagargoje said the state government would release ₹5,000 crore for land acquisition and the remaining ₹10,000 crore would be contributed by the Union transport ministry.
