L&T secures key contract in Navi Mumbai airport
The Transportation Infrastructure and Buildings & Factories wing of Larsen &Toubro has recently secured a key project from the Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (NMIAPL) on the EPC basis. The development spectrum covers cut and cover works terminal works including departure and arrival forecourts, airfield development works. Among others, it covers 3,700 m long south runway, apron systems, taxiway systems, airfield ground lighting and other facilities, landside facilities (roads, multilevel car parking), utilities and support systems. The Passenger Terminal Building that has been designed with complex forms by the famous and much-awarded Zaha Hadid Architects is being developed to initially handle a capacity of 10 MPA (million passengers per annum). The project will subsequently be enhanced to handle 20 MPA. According to Founder and Chairman, GVK, Dr. GVK Reddy, the commissioning of the iconic Terminal 2 at Mumbai airport and designing the under construction Garden Terminal 2 at Bengaluru airport, GVK had set new benchmarks in the Indian aviation sector. Now for the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the company has to raise the bar over and above what it has achieved at Mumbai and Bengaluru airports. For this challenge, it is happy to partner with Lai- yet again, as their team is very much in sync with our philosophy of delivering world class quality and creating landmarks for others to follow. The company is confident that with the high standards of excellence that L&T brings to the table, it will deliver yet another world class airport that will be the pride of India.
