Kochi Metro’s Phase II Expansion Moves Ahead

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has invited tenders to construct five new stations under Phase II of the Kochi Metro expansion. These stations will be located along the JLN Stadium–Kakkanad corridor at Palarivattom bypass, Padamugal, Vazhakkala, Chembumukku, and Alinchuvadu.

Construction of seven other stations in this phase began last year, but progress on these five stations had been delayed due to land acquisition issues. With the latest tender, this hurdle has been cleared and work is expected to begin soon. The project aims to bring Metro connectivity closer to the bustling Kakkanad region, easing commuting and spurring economic activity.
