The Kerala Government has given administrative approval for constructing the first phase of the Government Medical College & Hospital at Kozhikode in Kerala. The health care facility, which will be a centre of excellence, involved a cumulative investment of ₹2,000-crore, and ₹290-crore has been earmarked for the first phase of the project. As per the plan, all outpatient wards will be shifted to a new building near the Indian Coffee House restaurant. The proposal will now be presented to the empowered committee of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). Once the plan gets KIIFB nod, funds will be allocated to start construction on the project.
