Kerala clears ₹24,856-cr NH widening projects

The Kerala government has cleared the widening of Thalappady-Chengala and Chengala-Kalikkadavu national highways at an estimated cost of ₹24,856 crore. The projects had been stuck due to the high cost of land; the state government has agreed to bear 25% cost of land acquisition. The NH project in Kasaragod will be the first to be revived as the state PWD has released ₹298 crore for Thalappady-Chengala and Chengala-Kalikkadavu stretches in the district as 25% cost of land acquisition. Shortly after a meeting held recently, the state informed MoRTH about bearing 25% cost of the ₹21,000 crore cost for land acquisition. Special officer in charge of land acquisition for NH, K. Biju said that the projects in Kasaragod district will be the first to take off. The estimated cost for widening of Thalappady-Chengala road is ₹1,922.12 crore and for the Chengala-Kalikkadavu stretch it is ₹1,934.70 crore.
