Karnataka clears ₹4,500 cr for peripheral road project

road project
The Karnataka Cabinet has recently approved ₹4,500 crore for the construction of a Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) around the Bengaluru city. The approved funds would be invested on various activities including the land acquisition for the mega project, which connects half the city’s western-eastern-southern suburbs worth 65-km road with a width of 100 metres. Once completed, it will connect Tumkuru Road and Hosur Road through Ballari Road and Old Madras Road. The Cabinet had already approved the project and the lion share of the recently cleared sum would be invested on land acquisition (1,810 acres). The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is the implementing authority for PRR and is planning various initiatives to cut cost on land acquisition as it is planning elevated corridor or surface road. BDA has already floated tenders for technical advice and once the agency is finalized, the project will be taken up for execution on fast track basis.
