Kanpur civic body plans 105km ring road

Ensuring hassle free movement of vehicular traffic in and around the city, the Kanpur civic body has decided to build a 105km long ring road, divisional commissioner Mohammad Iftikharuddin, said in a recent statement, adding that vehicles from other districts are passing through the city and increase the traffic load in various parts and the construction of outer ring road will not only reduce pressure of traffic but also make the city traffic smooth. Project report of outer ring road is ready and it would be presented before the chief secretary. The outer ring road will have four lanes and will be constructed by the National Highway Authority of India. Some parts of investment would be borne by Central government and remaining by state government. In this connection, the divisional commissioner has already received the project report from project manager of NHAI, Naveen Mishra. It is an ambitious project and ring road will start from Mandhana before passing through Ganga barrage and will connect the Unnao-Lucknow highway and then Fatehpur via Sarsaul and from there it will move towards Mandhana via Kanpur dehat. At a later stage, Hardoi road will be linked with ring road and that the new outer ring road will give safe passage to vehicles coming from Kannauj, Etawah, Auriaya, Farrukhabad, Agra and other districts.
