Kamothe Township
After drawing flak from various quarters for undue delay in providing the direct connectivity between Kamothe townships and Sion Panvel Highway on the Mumbai-bound carriageway, the PWD has finally kicked off the construction of a 4.5 meter wide single lane road under Kamothe flyover at an investment of Rs.1,230 crore. After commissioning the motorists travel towards Mumbai as they can get onto the SP Highway while coming out of Kamothe mode to further travel to Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mumbai directly. This stretch would be completed in the next three months and the remaining two lanes will be completed in a year, said official sources elaborating that road users have been struggling for four years to find direct access to SP Highway and are taking a detour of almost 2 km towards Kalamboli before taking U-turn onto Mumbai-bound carriageway since the direct link is missing.
