In a major achievement, the Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA) Ring Road Project has recently cleared a major hurdles by securing environmental clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) for the construction of ring road in the mega city, said official sources, adding that a portion of the road having an area of 5.51 hectare (nearly 19 bigha) is passing through the forest area. The forest department has issued permission to carry out construction of transport corridor in 650 m area. Before issuing the permission, the forest department told JDA to plant trees in three rows along the Ring Road, which will pass through the forest and the nodal agency has willingly agreed to the direction. Though one hurdle has been cleared, JDA has failed to acquire land of Nevta dam, which is coming in the alignment of the 47 km Ring Road as nearly 1,100 metre of irrigation land in Nevta dam is overlapping the Ring Road. The main dam is nearly 1.5 km away from the 'capacity area'. The JDA will now table the issue in the empowered committee meeting, scheduled in August.
