The Mumbai-based leading infrastructure builder, J. Kumar Infra projects, on behalf of the J. Kumar- CRTG JV, has recently signed an agreement with the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRC) for building Phase-III of the city metro and also received LOA to this effect. The scope of work in the project included design and construction of underground sections including four underground stations at Dharavi, BKC, Vidhyanagari, and Santacruz and associated tunnels of about Rs. 2,858cr. In addition, it also included the design and construction of underground sections including CSIA domestic airport, Sahar Road and CSIA International airport, and associated bored tunnels of Rs. 2,153cr, totaling it to be a Rs. 5011-cr contract. Civil contractors for this project were selected in accordance with the JICA procurement guidelines through an international competitive bidding. The 33.5 km long, Metro-III corridor will stretch across 27 stations and will be built underground. The project work is likely to commence in the month of October, this year. Commenting on the coveted cache, Executive Chairman, J. Kumar Infra projects Ltd., Jagdish kumar M Gupta said that, the player is delighted by bagging the contract for the Metro 3 project for Mumbai city. The project is another great opportunity to ease the congestion in the metropolitan city.
