MoRTH suggests skybus and trolley bus services in Bengaluru

The Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has planned to carry out detailed study to introduce skybuses in Bengaluru as it is tough to widen the existing roads. A skybus is like Metro but runs above roads. It can seat up to 200 people and run above roads and in the air.

Gadkari also suggested the idea of trolley buses, which draw power from overhead wires. Unlike battery-powered e-buses, trolley buses cost just ₹50 to ₹60 lakh (per bus) and can seat 88 people. It’s a cost-effect option. People travelling by car, or the IT crowd can switch to this option.
