Meghalaya govt launches ₹121-cr water supply project

Meghalaya CM has laid the foundation for Phase I of Williamnagar Urban Water Supply Project in East Garo Hills involving ₹121 crore investment under AMRUT 2.0 in the funding pattern of 90:10. The project will cater to the water demand of the town up to the year 2050.

Under Phase - I of the project, construction of intake, laying of 500mm dia MS Gravity Main, construction of Treatment Plant, laying of MS Feeder Mains, construction of 8 (eight) out of 14 (fourteen) Elevated Service Reservoirs and laying of HDPE distribution pipes to 4 Wards of the Town, covering a total of 7,229 households.

The other component of the project includes the construction of remaining 6 (six) ESRs, laying of new distribution system to remaining wards, construction of approach roads, drawl of the power line, construction of staff quarters in WTP & Control area, improvement of existing water supply scheme and installation of monitoring system (SCADA), among others, will be implemented under Phase-II of the Project.
