Maharashtra injects booster to transport infra in Pune

Maharashtra government has given a major push to mega infrastructure projects including Pune Metro, Ring Road and Pune-Nashik high-speed railway besides an Indrayani medicity on an area of 300 acres to provide health infra and allied facilities under one roof. The government also announced the Nashik-Pune Medium High-Speed Railway project, which has already been approved by the Union government costing ₹16,039 crore wherein the state government will bear 80% of the burden and the Pune Metro rail from Swargate to Pimpri Chinchwad and Vanaz to Ramwadi in Pune is nearing completion. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has started work on the Pune Metro Line 3 project connecting Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar with a length of 23 km and involving ₹8,313 crore investments. A metro project has been proposed on routes covering Swargate to Katraj in Pune, Pimpri to Nigdi, Vanaz to Chandni Chowk, Ramwadi to Wagholi, Swargate to Hadapsar, Hadapsar to Kharadi, Khadakwasla to Swargate and preparation of project reports is currently in full swing. Around ₹1,500 crore has been proposed for the acquisition of 1,900 hectares of land for implementing the proposed ring road project which will help divert heavy traffic from entering Pune city.
