Jyoti Structures Limited Rolls Out Heat Safety Drive Across Project Sites and Manufacturing Facilities

Jyoti Structures Limited (JSL), a listed Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company specialising in power transmission infrastructure, has stepped up heat safety efforts across its project sites and manufacturing facilities as India enters peak summer.

JSL has introduced a Summer Safety Plan covering all transmission line project sites. The plan addresses heat stress, dehydration, and fatigue risks among workers during peak summer months.

Site teams have been directed to shift work hours away from peak afternoon heat, supply drinking water, ORS, and lemon-salt solution at all locations, and set up rest shelters near work areas. Daily toolbox talks on heat stress, worker health monitoring, first aid readiness, emergency transport, and restrictions on tower climbing during extreme heat are also part of the plan.

The plan covers workers engaged in tower erection, material handling, fabrication, galvanisation, and other physically demanding tasks. Workers are being trained to identify early signs of heat stress, stay hydrated, use shaded rest areas, and wear appropriate protective equipment.

Heat stress drills have been conducted at active project sites to help workers, supervisors, and emergency response teams practise their response to heat-related incidents. These drills cover first aid, evacuation, recovery in shaded areas, stretcher use, and emergency communication.

At its Nashik manufacturing facility, JSL has conducted on-the-job training covering heat safety, housekeeping, and safe material handling. Safety awareness boards have been installed across the factory floor as a regular reminder to workers.

Commenting on the initiative, Vandana Kudalkar, Senior VP – QHSE Jyoti Structures Limited, said, "As temperatures rise across the country, building awareness and readiness at the ground level is critical. Keeping workers safe requires regular training, clear communication, and a quick response capability at both project sites and factories. We want every worker to have the knowledge and support to do their job safely, even in extreme weather."
