Dharavi Redevelopment Enters Execution Phase, 11,000 Rehab Homes Planned on 35-Acre Rail Land

Slum-Project
Mumbai’s Dharavi redevelopment project has entered a key execution phase with authorities beginning clearance of a 35-acre Indian Railways land parcel in Matunga to construct 11,000 rehabilitation homes in Sector-6. The project is being implemented by NMDPL under a key-to-key rehabilitation model, aimed at accelerating housing delivery for affected residents.

Authorities have asked residents from identified clusters to relocate before the monsoon, offering transit accommodation or rental support to facilitate smooth execution.

The development marks a significant step in one of India’s largest urban redevelopment projects, focused on providing modern housing and upgrading infrastructure in densely populated areas.
