Construction begins on stormwater drainage project in Patna to prevent floods

Construction begins on a new stormwater outfall facility in Patna and neighbouring areas to combat flooding and waterlogging. The project aims to construct 103 drain lines, divided into nine packages, covering a total of 185-km-long drainage network. Dharmendra Singh, Managing Director of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCO), stated that the relocation of utilities, mobilization of machinery, and land survey of the identified areas have already started. The work tender has been awarded for seven packages, and bidding for another two packages is in the final stages. The project was slightly delayed, but officials hope to complete it by 2024. The catchment areas will cover Danapur, Khagaul, Phulwarisharif, Ashiana Nagar, Jagdeopath, Raja Bazar, Yadav Colony, Nirala Nagar, Digha, Rajiv Nagar, Rupaspur, Patel Nagar, Patliputra Colony, Lodipur, Boring Road, Rajapur, Buddha Colony, and some parts of Gandhi Maidan and Bailey Road.
