India's Aircraft Fleet Doubles; 50 New Airports Planned in 5 Years

Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced that India's active aircraft fleet has grown from 395 in 2014 to 829. Additionally, Indian airlines have placed orders for over 2,000 new aircraft to meet rising demand.
Naidu highlighted that by 2047, India could have 350 operational airports handling 20 million passengers annually. He also revealed plans to establish 50 new airports over the next five years to support the country's rapidly expanding aviation sector.
