Indian Railways Deploys 12,000 Special Trains for Festive Rush: Ashwini Vaishnaw

The Minister informed that nearly 1.6 crore passengers have travelled through these special trains so far, with a similar number expected to undertake return journeys following the Chhath festival.
Shri Vaishnaw highlighted that the Railways team has worked systematically to manage the sudden surge in passenger traffic during the festive season. He noted the deployment of holding areas, CCTV surveillance, handheld Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), and streamlined passenger flow systems to ensure safety and smooth operations.
On the occasion of Chhath Puja, special arrangements have been made at around 30 railway stations across North Bihar and Purvanchal regions, where dedicated holding areas have been established to enhance passenger comfort. These facilities allow travelers to sit comfortably and enter the station in an organised manner, ensuring convenience and crowd management.
