Indian Railways Approves Rs 398.36 Cr OFC Network Project in Ahmedabad and Ratlam Divisions

Indian Railways has approved a communication infrastructure project worth Rs 398.36 crore for the provision of optical fibre cable (OFC) backbone across Western Railway’s Ahmedabad and Ratlam divisions.

The project involves the deployment of 4×48 Optical Fibre Cable infrastructure over 1,929 route kilometres, including 1,456 km in Ahmedabad division and 473 km in Ratlam division.

Approved under the umbrella programme for Kavach and LTE-based communication systems, the project aims to strengthen the railway communication backbone, enabling high-capacity and reliable data transmission across the network.

The upgraded OFC infrastructure will support modern signalling systems, including the implementation of Kavach, enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and digital connectivity across Western Railway.
