India Surpasses Japan to Become World’s Fourth Largest Economy

World’s Fourth Largest Economy

India has overtaken Japan to become the world’s fourth largest economy, according to NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam. Speaking recently, Subrahmanyam cited International Monetary Fund (IMF) data that puts India’s economy at USD 4 trillion, ahead of Japan.

“Today, India is larger than Japan,” he noted. “It is only the US, China, and Germany which are larger than us. If we stick to what is being planned and thought through, in the next 2.5 to 3 years, India will become the third largest economy.”
