Highlighting the Modi Government’s commitment to green mobility, the Minister cited flagship initiatives like PM E-Drive and FAME-II as critical steps toward building a robust EV manufacturing ecosystem in India. He reaffirmed that India, as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, is steadily progressing on its clean mobility mission.

Shri Malhotra emphasized that the EV transition is not just a technological shift but a national imperative to achieve climate goals, ensure energy security, and strengthen economic resilience. He also pointed to supportive policies such as EV retrofitting regulations and toll tax exemptions aimed at making electric transportation more affordable and sustainable.

Addressing the importance of infrastructure, the Minister mentioned the development of Multi-Modal Logistics Parks under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. These parks, now integrating green energy provisions and EV-compatible facilities, will reduce logistics costs and emissions, reinforcing India’s position as a clean and connected transport hub.

He reiterated the government’s target of generating 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and called upon industry leaders to focus on battery technologies suited to India’s climate and mobility needs. The Minister urged stakeholders to invest in R&D, promote local manufacturing, and implement circular solutions such as battery recycling and reuse.

Concluding the session, Shri Malhotra said India’s industrial growth over the past 11 years is now being channeled towards achieving the 2070 Net Zero target, a central priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a sustainable future.
