Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) has signed six MoUs with major port authorities to finance Rs 1.1 lakh crore worth of port infrastructure projects over the next decade. The agreements were signed during Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, marking HUDCO’s entry into maritime financing in alignment with the government’s vision of port-led development under Sagarmala and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

The MoUs were signed with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Paradip Port Authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, Mumbai Port Authority, and Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd. HUDCO chairman Sanjay Kulshrestha said this initiative will help transform India into a global maritime hub by boosting coastal infrastructure and logistics.

HUDCO and Sagarmala Finance Corporation will jointly provide up to Rs 80,000 crore to eligible public and private projects. Additional agreements include Rs 5,000 crore for Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, Rs 25,000 crore for the greenfield Vadhvan Port, Rs 487 crore for Visakhapatnam Port, Rs 5,100 crore for Paradip Port, and Rs 3,000 crore for Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.

This strategic expansion comes at a time when the Maritime India Vision 2030 projects investments of Rs 3–3.5 lakh crore in ports, shipping and inland waterways, supported by government schemes like the Maritime Development Fund and Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme.
