Highway projects worth Rs.3,024 cr up for grab

National Highway
In order to fast track the six-laning of national highway project entailing a whopping investment of Rs.3,024 crore and stretching across three phases, the NHAI has recently floated tender and the construction work, which is all set to start in the next three months, said official sources, claiming that the Nagpur-Bhandara highway project with a length of 45-km starts beyond Pardi where the four-lane road starts, which will be built at an investment of Rs.980 crore. Alongside, NHAI has also decided to construct a four-lane linking Nagpur and Katol with 60-km length will also be launched at a cost of Rs.1,390 crore. Similarly, the Nagpur-Umred road commanding a length of 41 km will also be built four-laned at cost of Rs.654 crore simultaneously. The sources, however, expressed regret that all the NHAI projects in the city were behind schedule largely due to lackadaisical attitude of municipal bodies in land acquisition as the contractors have brought their machinery and workers on the work sites and are unnecessarily bearing overhead costs and constantly complaining to NHAI about this, they added.
