Highway building hits 31.87 km per day mark

Highway Construction
The transport ministry recorded construction of 31.87km roads per day on an average, which is still far from achieving the laid down target of 41km per day. In December, highway construction under the road transport and highways ministry was 956-km, giving an all-time high average of 31.87km per day. At the current pace, the ministry is hopeful of meeting this fiscal's target of 12,000-km, a senior ministry official said, adding that the average for the first three quarters of the current fiscal year remained at about 25-km per day. Between April and December, 5800-5900km of national highways were constructed. The ministry had fixed a target of around 16,420km for 2018-19 as against 9,829-km in the last fiscal year
