Herrenknecht AG’s Mechanized Tunneling Technology
Herrenknecht AG’s mechanized tunneling technology has been driving successful tunneling projects for nearly 50 years. Under the motto "Exploring the Green," it will showcase solutions and services, giving visitors an experience of new digital applications, automation in tunneling, and high-tech engineering.

The Group’s specialists will present solutions for the upstream and downstream processes of tunnel jobsites—from robot-supported segment production and smart transport vehicles to navigation systems and muck management. Solutions will range from automated directional control of gantry carriages to engineering guidelines, ensuring that resource-saving rebuilding of components is planned well in advance during the early construction phase.
Herrenknecht also offers solutions for crossings using horizontal directional drilling, sewage systems, and seawater desalination plants. The company is driving automation in mechanized tunneling, making it safer and more efficient, with advancements in automated segment handling, ring building, and directional control of TBMs. The company is accelerating digital transformation in tunneling with its software Herrenknecht.Connected customer portal that enables seamless integration of data and processes, improving transparency and real-time project efficiency.
With the Tunnel Enlargement System (TES), Herrenknecht AG is a finalist in the Machine Technology category of the bauma Innovation Award. Developed in collaboration with contractor PORR, the TES enables tunnel lining renewal during ongoing rail operations, upgrading tunnels to modern standards or expanding their diameter.
