GWMC takes up ₹1,100-cr Metro Neo venture

Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) has initiated the construction process of the Metro Neo project at Warangal city for ₹1,100 crore in Telangana. The detailed project report (DPR) for the 17-km long project was reviewed by the GWMC Commissioner, Pamela Satpathy.

As per plan, a 17-km long rail project connecting Kazipet railway station to Warangal railway station via Petrol Pump, Hanamkonda Chowrasta, Mulugu Road, MGM Centre, Pochamma Maidan, Kashibugga and Venkatrama Junction will be constructed on the elevated corridor. Technical experts have made several suggestions on the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP). They also gathered inputs from the respective departmental officials and discussed the issues threadbare. The final DPR of the proposed Metro Neo project would be sent to the state government for approval after making changes. The Telangana government had decided to take up the Metro Neo Rail project in Warangal and appointed Maha Metro to conduct a feasibility study to prepare a DPR.
