Gujarat kick-start highway venture
Gujarat CM recently launched the development of Sarkhej-Gandhinagar-Chiloda Highway project entailing an investment of ₹867 crore. The highway formerly known as (NH) 8C now is being named as NH 147 and will spread across a stretch with a length of 44-km. It will pass through certain stretches of Ahmedabad city and Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad districts. Around 50% of the project fund will be provided by the Union government while the remaining will be on cost sharing basis by the Gujarat government, which will be adjusted annually from CRF and annual accrual for the state. The proposed plan includes construction of Gujarat's first elevated corridor of 4.18km stretch starting from Sola Bhagwat Junction and Terminate at Zydus Hospital Junction and merge into the Thaltej underpass located at SG Highway currently. The project included the construction of six-laning of the entire stretch of road from Chiloda to Vaishnodevi which is currently a four-lane road, with a 7 metre wide service road on both sides. That apart, it also proposes construction of seven new flyovers, 20 bus bays, two pedestrian underpasses, two railways over bridges and one vehicular underpass, among others.
