Gujarat gets ₹7,737-cr twin airport projects

The Civil Aviation Ministry has sanctioned ₹7,737 crore for the two airports at Hirasar (near Rajkot) and Dholera, in the Ahmedabad district. A sum of ₹2,654 crore has been sanctioned by the Central government for the Hirasar airport, and ₹5,083 for the proposed international airport at Dholera. While all the clearances have been given for the Hirasar airport, work on the Dholera airport is expected to begin shortly. The earlier sanctioned cost of the Hirasar airport was Rs 1,405 crore and for Dholera it was about ₹2,500 crore, chairman, AAI. The two airports are being developed by AAI with the support of the Gujarat government.
