Greater Chennai floats tenders for flyover project

The Greater Chennai Corporation has floated tenders for a Rs. 98.55 crore flyover at the Teynampet junction connecting Theyagaraya Road and Eldams Road. The 1.km flyover is part of the two bridges proposed under the smart city mission. In Mount Road, a single span will be erected as metro rail projects will be undertaken there. The agency has already conducted pre-bid meetings, following which, technical and financial sanctions will be taken for starting the project at the earliest. The bidder will carry out soil investigation at the location of piers and on approaches and prepare a detailed design, which will be proof-checked by IIT-Madras before execution. The contract includes designing, engineering, procurement and construction and a time period of 20 months, said official sources.
