Govt launches ₹1,505 cr Delhi-Saharanpur highway

Union minister for road, transport and highways Nitin Gadkari together with Uttar Pradesh chief minister recently laid the foundation stone of Delhi-Saharanpur highway in Baghpat involving an investment of ₹1,505 crore. The 154-km long national highway will be developed in three phases and after the completion of the first phase, Baghpat will be just two hours’ drive from the national capital. Apart from the construction of 4-lane highway, it also involves the building of 15 bridges and will be completed in two years. The Union minister said adding that the promised fund of ₹100 crore to clean the contaminated rivers of Baghpat, which falling into the Yamuna. The government also have 34 projects exclusively for Yamuna and many of them are in this district only and also working on developing waterways on Ganga at a cost of ₹5,000 crore and that the holy river will be 70% cleaner by the end of this year.
