Govt Approves ₹28,229 Cr for Construction of Arunachal Frontier Highway
The Central government has approved ₹28,229 crore for the construction of the 1,637-km Arunachal Frontier Highway, a strategic infrastructure project connecting 12 districts in Arunachal Pradesh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
Spanning the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar border, the highway will run as close as 20 km to the LAC, starting in Bomdila and passing through towns like Nafra, Huri, and Monigong, before ending in Vijaynagar near the India-Myanmar border. It will link 1,683 villages, significantly enhancing connectivity in remote border areas.
With an estimated cost of ₹40,000 crore, the project is slated for completion by 2027, promising both strategic security and socio-economic upliftment for the region.
