Govt Accelerates National Highway & Expressway Development

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is responsible for the development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) and Expressways in India. All projects, including access-controlled High-Speed Corridors (HSCs) and Expressways, are aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP).
Currently, 2,474 km of National HSCs and Expressways are operational. In Telangana, four major corridors—Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam, Solapur–Kurnool–Chennai, Indore–Hyderabad, and Nagpur–Vijayawada—spanning 779 km are under development, with 415 km already completed
To fast-track project completion, the government has implemented several measures, including streamlined land acquisition, faster environmental clearances, simplified railway approvals, improved contract terms, and enhanced dispute resolution mechanisms. Regular project reviews at various levels further ensure timely execution.
