In order to exploit the available natural resources in sea sector to the hilt, GE and L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Ltd have entered into an exclusive memorandum of understanding for manufacturing sub-sea manifolds pipelines and equipment, which would be used for future deepwater projects in the Krishna-Godavari basin on the east coast of India, announced both the companies in a recent statement, claiming that the partnership will be the first time that sub-sea equipment is being manufactured in India. The manufacturing will take place at L&T's modular fabrication unit in Tamil Nadu and will have an annual capacity of 50,000 tons. The plant is equipped with advanced welding and fabrication capabilities along with a 150 metre jetty making it an ideal location to manufacture advanced hardware for the seabed. As a matter of fact, the strategic partnership with L&T has opened new avenues for GE to manufacture highly advanced equipment to serve the needs of India's oil and gas sector as well as the broader, global industry, Chief Executive Officer of GE Oil & Gas, South Asia, Ashish Bhandari, said.
