In order to curb the perpetual traffic jams in the heart of the city, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has fast tracked work on the second elevated road between Ghanta Ghar and Bhatia Mor at an investment of ₹325 crore. The four-lane 2.3 km long elevated road will be built on a single pillar model and the GDA will bear the investment cost for the project. Recently, the authority also changed the design of the project to decongest the Ghanta Ghar, which is narrow and witness traffic jams during peak hours and the change increased the construction cost by ₹72 crore from ₹253 crore to ₹325 crore, Chief Engineer, GDA VN Singh, said adding that as per the new model, the elevated road will have split ends and the lane leading to Bhatia Mor will be constructed 150 m away from Ghanta Ghar.
