INZAG has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1090-4.2, expanding its fleet with a versatile solution for demanding operations, including a major infrastructure project in southern Angola.

The 4-axle crane marks INZAG’s continued focus on fleet standardisation and is the second unit of this model in its lineup. “Our goal is not to have the largest fleet, but a reliable all-rounder capable of handling both small and large lifts,” said Lorenz Weber, Procurement Director at INZAG.

The crane combines high mobility with efficient operation, featuring variable axle loads for easy global transport and flexible deployment on roads and construction sites. Technologies such as ECOdrive and ECOmode help reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions, improving both operational efficiency and environmental performance.

First deployment in Angola requires flexibility

“With this new addition to our fleet, we are preparing for the start of a 146-kilometre road construction project in Angola,” explains Leandro Fernandez, Managing Director at INZAG. The project involves the rehabilitation of the EN 140/295 national road between the municipalities of Caiundo and Savate. The site is located in a remote region in the south of the country, where local crane hire companies are not a viable option.

“For this project, we needed a multifunctional crane that can be mobilised quickly, is flexible on site and can also be replaced during the operation – should that become necessary,” reports Weber. For the deployment in Angola, the high lifting capacities and the large working radius were decisive – characteristics that are precisely tailored to the requirements of the construction site.

“We will be using the new Liebherr crane primarily during the mobilisation phase, including for setting up camps and facilities, as well as for unloading and logistics tasks. It will also support operations at bitumen and precast plants, as well as the installation of box culverts,” explains Fernandez.

Long-standing partnership and the highest quality standards

INZAG relies on premium brands and the highest quality standards for its projects. Furthermore, many projects are based on export financing from the German Federal Government, where the use of technology manufactured in Germany is a central component of the service promise. The decision to choose Liebherr is a reflection of a long-standing partnership. “In addition to the machine itself, customer service, spare parts availability and technical support play a decisive role for us – requirements that Liebherr fulfils,” summarises Fernandez.

INZAG Germany GmbH focuses on the implementation of large-scale construction projects in sub-Saharan Africa. With around 500 employees, the infrastructure company carries out projects in the fields of road, water, energy and port infrastructure. “We are currently active in Angola, Ghana and Uganda, among other places, combining European engineering expertise with extensive project experience in challenging markets,” says Weber. In addition, INZAG offers export and trading solutions and acts as a link between European OEMs and African customers.
