Grúas Aguilar Orders 15 Liebherr Cranes to Expand Fleet

Spanish crane company Grúas Aguilar has ordered 15 new Liebherr cranes as part of its fleet modernisation and expansion programme, strengthening its lifting capacity in Spain and international markets.

The order includes the company’s new fleet flagship, the 800-tonne Liebherr LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane, and the LTM 1400-6.1 mobile crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 450 tonnes. Both cranes have already been delivered and successfully deployed. The LTM 1400-6.1 is the first crane of its type delivered in Spain.

The investment covers a range of high-performance mobile and crawler cranes. The order also includes the LTM 1300-6.4 mobile crane with a 90-metre telescopic boom and Liebherr’s LICCON3 crane control system.

The remaining order comprises several LTM 1060-3.1, LTM 1090-4.3 and LTM 1100-5.3 mobile cranes, along with an MK 140-5.1E mobile construction crane. The first machines have already been delivered, with the remaining cranes scheduled for delivery in stages through the first quarter of 2027.

LR 1800-1.0 expands operational capabilities

Particular attention is being paid to the LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane, which is now the most powerful machine in Grúas Aguilar’s fleet. The 800-tonne crane offers outstanding lifting capacities and is designed as a particularly powerful industrial crane for use with a luffing jib and derrick system in industrial plants, power station construction or the petrochemical industry. The LR 1800-1.0 is also ideally suited to the erection of wind turbines and wind farm maintenance operations.

The crane has already completed its first assignment for Grúas Aguilar on a major infrastructure project in Madrid. There, it assisted with the installation of the ‘Mayrit’ tunnel boring machine for the expansion of the Spanish capital’s underground network.
