Tadano has developed the AC 3.060-2, a compact and versatile all-terrain taxi crane designed for quick setup and multiple jobs in a single day. The new crane offers increased line pull and overall height, setting new benchmarks in its class.

“With our new AC 3.060-2, we have created a compact and powerful crane that can cover an extremely wide range of applications without much effort. That was our development goal, and we have definitely achieved it,” said Masafumi Nakamura from the Product Development Division at Tadano Japan.

The AC 3.060-2 is now available to order in the Americas and Australia, with the first deliveries expected later in 2026. Deliveries to Europe are scheduled to begin in 2027.

Tadano has also expanded its production capacity to improve availability and reduce lead times for customers in this crane segment. The company has started manufacturing small two- and three-axle all-terrain cranes in Japan, with the AC 3.060-2 becoming the second model produced under this initiative.

Impressive performance with a steep boom angle

The AC 3.060-2 is particularly powerful in steep boom positions: With its 50-meter (164 ft) main boom fully extended and a full 13-tonne (28,700 lbs) counterweight, it lifts a remarkable 5.8 tonnes (12,800 lbs) at a working radius of 18 meters (59 ft). And with the main boom extended to its maximum length plus a 16-meter (52.5 ft) extension angled at 20°, it lifts a substantial 2.3 tonnes (3,500 lbs) with full counterweight at a radius of 28 meters (92 ft)– that's best in class! It achieves a maximum system length of 69 meters (216.5 ft) "This strong performance with a steep boom angle proves particularly advantageous when lifting heavy loads over obstacles," emphasizes Nakamura.

Strong line pull

The AC 3.060-2 is also best-in-class with its line pull of 6.7 tonnes (15,040 lbs) using a single line. And with triple reeving on the single-sheave hook block, the rope can even handle 20 tonnes (44,100 lbs). This allows the AC 3.060-2 to lift heavy loads even with the small hook block and to perform many jobs as a taxi crane. Furthermore, the exceptional line pull generally proves advantageous during setup – after all, less reeving means less time and, on top of that, greater safety.

Flexible and safe on the road – fully equipped for the construction site

As a classic taxi crane, the AC 3.060-2 can be driven on the road within its 12-tonne (26,500 lbs) axle load limit, equipped with wide 16-inch tires, a large drivetrain (6 x 6 x 6), 4.2 tonnes (9,300 lbs) of counterweight, the single-sheave hook block and 300 kg (660 lbs) payload. This makes the AC 3.060-2 suitable for many one-person operations without the need for additional transport. Safety is also a priority during operation: its turning assistant helps the driver maintain a complete overview of the road.

Easy and safe handling on the construction site

On the construction site, the AC 3.060-2 scores with another best-in-class feature: Thanks to its unrivalled low clearance height of just 3.71 meters (12’ 4”), it is literally the benchmark on tight construction sites and especially in halls. Its compact design, with a width of 2.55 meters (8’ 4”) and a carrier length of 9.49 meters (31’ 2”), makes it ideal for use in confined spaces. The optional Tadano Surround View system, with its four cameras that facilitate crane positioning, and the stepless outrigger positioning Flex Base also prove helpful. Flex Base allows the outriggers to be extended to varying lengths right up to obstacles. Thanks to the intelligent IC-1 Plus crane control system with capacity radar, the AC 3.060-2 can always utilize the maximum possible lifting capacity, even with asymmetrical outrigger setups. Another technical highlight is the underfloor positioning of the boom, which enables safe reeving and easy setup of extensions, for example.

Cross-Model Accessories

Thanks to Tadano's parts-sharing strategy, the AC 3.060-2 can cost-effectively share various components with other cranes from the manufacturer. These include, for example, the runner and the jib. With the appropriate preparation, it is also suitable for use with e-Pack, which enables emission-free crane operation. The crane can also be optionally ordered with load and winch cameras.

Conclusion: A compact all-rounder for every situation

With the AC 3.060-2, Tadano has created a compact, maneuverable, and quickly rigged taxi crane that is ideal for a wide range of applications: Whether for concrete work, unloading jobs, hall construction, or prefabricated house construction – the AC 3.060-2 will prove its worth just as it will in various other lifting operations on construction sites. Its powerful performance with a steep boom angle should make it the first choice for lifting air conditioning units onto roofs over obstacles or for moving machinery with a jib in confined spaces – and the fact that it can often be operated by a single person makes it particularly economical in many cases.
