EDC floats tender for ₹1,400 cr convention centre

The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is all set to float a request for proposal (RFP) shortly to invite bidders for construction of a convention centre at Dona Paula in Goa. The project, which is conceptualized on a public-private-partnership (PPP) model, entailed an investment of ₹1,400 crore. As many as 25 business houses have shown interest in constructing the convention centre on a 52-acre plot. In a recent meeting bidders have suggested that the government increase the height of the project from 25m as per the outline development plan, to 75m. Along with the convention centre, an exhibition centre, indoor film shooting shed, ESG and Iffi office, Smart City, centre of excellence and commercial enterprises like hotels, apartments, malls and a multiplex will come up at the complex. The rest of the area will be used for utilities, parking, electricity generation and solid waste management.
