In a major booster to the metro rail project in the state, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been entrusted the task of preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and various studies, including environment impact assessment, for the proposed phase-II expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. In this connection, a team from DMRC spearheaded by SD Sharma, Director DMRC, along with NVS Reddy, Managing Director of HMRL, and engineering teams inspected various alternative potential corridors and discussed the financial viability of the metro phase-II. The DPR study involves suggesting ways to close in on the gaps in phase-I and integration with metro routes and existing rail and bus systems and airport connectivity. Among other things, the availability of government and open lands also factored in while locating stations and depots for the second phase. In addition, it also involves the task of taking up transportation surveys, preparation of alternative routes, integration with metro phase-I and existing rail network, Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) and bus services, said official sources.
