DMRC takes up ₹4,570.34-cr metro contract in Mumbai

The CIDCO Board has accorded in-principle approval to appoint Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to undertake work on the Navi Mumbai's Metro Lines 2 & 3. A letter of appointment has been sent to DMRC to prepare the terms & conditions and send the draft Contract Agreement at the earliest. The DPR for Metro Line II & III has been submitted by RITES following which, the Board accorded approval to implement NMM Line III (Pendhar to MIDC) costing Rs. 1750.14 crore and NMM Line II (MIDC to Khandeshwar) costing ₹2820.20 crore. CIDCO is also seeking financial assistance from the Maharashtra and Central Governments as the first phase of Navi Mumbai Metro Rail Corridor – Line No. 1 (Belapur to Pendhar) is underway with an elevated length of 11.10 km comprising of 11 stations, 1 depot, and entailing an estimated cost of Rs. 3063.63 crores. Various works for the Navi Mumbai Metro Rail Line – 1 are in progress with its scheduled trial run planned for Nov-end this years, following which, commercial operations would begin by June 2020, said Cidco sources.
