Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has floated tenders for the design and construction of the 5.5km long elevated section of the 20-km Aerocity-Tughlaqabad corridor of the Phase IV project. The stretch will have four elevated stations — Sangam Vihar, Khanpur, Ambedkar Nagar and Saket G Block — and 12 underground stops, the tenders for which are yet to be floated. A first-of-its-kind three-layer transport facility has been planned for the Mehrauli Badarpur Road in south Delhi where the stretch will have a 2.4-km double-deck viaduct with a Delhi Metro corridor running on the upper deck and a six-lane flyover on the lower, while a six lane underpass connecting Saket G Block to Sangam Vihar will run below, said an official spokesperson. The upper deck would come up at an elevation of 18m, while the flyover will be at a height of 9.3m and the total length of the integrated structure will be 2.4-km. The flyover will start just after the proposed Sangam Vihar metro station and end after Ambedkar Nagar stop, providing connectivity from Mehrauli Badarpur Road to BRT corridor. A 430m six-lane underpass will be constructed at Saket G Block at Mandir Marg crossing, providing uninterrupted traffic movement from Sangam Vihar to Saket-G Block towards Mehrauli from Badarpur and vice versa. The Saket-G station will be an interchange stop between Aerocity-Tughlaqabad and the proposed Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridors. These apart, DMRC is currently constructing a double deck viaduct on the Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor, which is expected to come up between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar metro stations. Prior to this, DMRC had floated tenders for the 12.58-km Majlis Park-Maujpur metro corridor, which has eight elevated stations.
