Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has committed ₹8,553 crore for the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) Project (Phase 1) (IV). The multilateral financing agency has signed an agreement with the Government of India to provide an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan to the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), which is the executing agency of the project. The objective of the project is to promote comprehensive regional economic development along the freight corridor as the backbone of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial corridor (DMIC) development plan, said chief representative, JICA India, Katsuo Matsumoto, who added that the agency is committed towards development of infrastructure in the transportation sector. It will help to promote comprehensive regional economic development along with the freight corridor in DMIC area. In phase 1, 950-km freight line starting from Rewari in Haryana will connect major cities in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Haryana and culminate at Vadodara in Gujarat.
