Delhi–Dehradun Expressway to Open Within 10–15 Days, Cut Travel Time to 2 Hours: Nitin Gadkari

Expressway
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway will open to the public within the next 10–15 days. The 212-km, six-lane access-controlled corridor has been built at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore and will reduce travel time between the two cities from 6.5 hours to just two hours.

The expressway, divided into four sections, begins from the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway (DME) near Akshardham and passes through Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway interchange at Khekra in Mandola, Baghpat, Shamli and Saharanpur before reaching Dehradun.

Special provisions have been incorporated to ensure safety and environmental protection. The Ganeshpur–Dehradun stretch has been designed as a dedicated wildlife-safe zone. The corridor includes a 12-km elevated road, six animal underpasses, two elephant underpasses, two major bridges and 13 minor bridges.

With its seamless connectivity and improved safety features, the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is set to become a major boost for travel, tourism and economic activity across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
