A section of the canopy at the arrival forecourt of Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 partially collapsed on Sunday morning due to heavy rains and strong winds.
The newly revamped Terminal 1 (T1) was recently opened for flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), India’s busiest airport. According to officials, the external tensile fabric at the arrival forecourt gave way under pressure from the rain and wind, adjusting as part of the design’s natural response to extreme weather. This mechanism helped disperse excessive water accumulation.
