The transport ministry recently gave the go-ahead to the mega Pathankot-Mandi four-lane road project crisscrossing parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The ministry has directed NHAI officials to expedite construction, which will be done in a phased manner. When completed, it would provide better road connectivity in the region and boost tourism in Mandi and Kullu districts of the hill state. Apart from this, the transport ministry will restart construction of the Kiratpur-Nagchala four-lane project which was stopped nearly a year ago as the construction company had left the work midway due to financial constraints. Tender for the construction of this corridor has been floated and work will begin next month.
