The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has cleared Rs.1,575 crore for the construction of the much-delayed Signature Bridge in the National Capital. The construction work on the project is expected to pick up pace as the (CPWD) has approved the additional estimate of about Rs.231 crore of the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) to complete the project, said an official spokesperson. The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) had sought the CPWD‘s ―expert opinion after the DTTDC submitted a revised estimate for the construction of the project, which was announced way back in 2004 at an investment of Rs.1,131 crore. The development comes in the wake of the Delhi High Court pulling up the PWD and the DTTDC for - quibbling over the amount of investment involved.
